The Independent OpenCourseWare Study Program (IOCS) is a framework developed by Juliana Meehan and Eric Sheninger and piloted at New Milford High School, New Milford, NJ through the Academies @ NMHS. IOCS enables high school students to access this powerful learning resource and earn high school credit for their work.

Tariq Khan and Caleb Gomez participated in the first application of the IOCS framework during their senior year at New Milford High School, New Milford, NJ, under the direction of principal Eric Sheninger. The students studied Python Programming, offered by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a pioneer of the OpenCourseWare concept.
